Sutra 2.39 – Acknowledging Abundance

The sutra I shared for September, sutra 2.39, focused on practicing with gratitude.

“Acknowledging abundance (aparigraha) we recognize the blessings in everything and gain insights into the purpose for our worldly existence.”

I appreciated the expansion of the concept of gratitude compared to some of the other translations of this sutra.  We practiced with gratitude for what our bodies are able to do, meditated on our personal point of gratitude and tried to carry that spirit of gratitude off our mat.


I hadn’t done just a pure coloring sheet before so I thought that would be a fun, different thing to try.  The best part about it was it made a really nice calm activity to do at my kids sports events. I shuttle to soccer three times a week and sometimes it’s nice to do something different.  I even gave one away and socialized while coloring one day which beats being a phone jockey.

I called this a coloring sheet but of course there’s plenty of blank spaces to do some journaling on the meaning of this sutra for you.  The symbolism of the lily can be incorporated and the circles of course don’t have to represent the chakras – that’s the beauty of personal interpretations.
