I started focusing on a word of the year instead of New Year’s resolutions a couple of years ago. I’ve liked the word of the year concept and thought it served me well. I don’t think the year 2020 has served me all that well though.
Like most of you, it’s required major changes and adjustments to my work and family life as well as my attitude. That’s still an ongoing process, even though the year is winding down.
Despite the challenges and hardships of this last year, I’m still hopeful for the coming year. My word of the year for 2021 is creativity. I think the word sums up both the need to be adaptable for whatever’s coming up because there’s still so much uncertainty right now. As well as the potential for meaningful opportunities by being forced into so much change.
My word for 2020 had been growth. A lot of growth still happened, just not in the ways I had planned. The aqua yoga teacher trainings still happened. They just had to be tweaked. Yoga classes still happened, but online. I presented at conferences, again online, and released a new yoga journaling book. There was plenty of growth. It just looked different than I’d expected.
The shift away from in-person content has allowed me to work on my writing. I have an aqua yoga book in process that I hope to bring you in 2021. I have two different courses that are just notes right now.
All my fingers and toes are crossed that we get to return to in-person connection. I have three different conferences lined up to teach at and look forward to connecting with one on one clients. Aqua yoga teacher trainings will happen. These are just the plans. I’m sure I’ll get creative with some other stuff.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned from 2020, if all of this gets thrown out the window because of things I can’t control, I’ll adapt and get creative and find new ways to deliver you aqua yoga. Because that’s what 2021 is all about – Creativity!
